Fukubukuro Tradition
For the first time, Snow Peak is bringing the fukubukuro tradition to our US customers. As we look towards 2025, we’re celebrating the New Year with a limited-edition Fukubukuro Surprise Set.
In Japan, the fukubukuro tradition offers specialty surprise items to customers at the start of January. The longstanding practice serves as a celebratory moment welcoming the year ahead. The luxury department store Ginza Matsuya in Tokyo, is often credited as the pioneer of Fukubukuro, sometime during the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century.
Today, retailers in all categories offer Fukubukuro – cultivating a spirit of excitement and anticipation among shoppers. The bags always have a sense of mystery – though some retailers do partially reveal the contents. The items in Snow Peak’s Fukubukuro Surprise Set are only revealed after purchase!
Join us in welcoming 2025 and treat yourself or a friend to a limited-edition Fukubukuro Surprise Set. (Sold out online, available in store for a limited time).
