PURPOSE
The Sales Manager is responsible for strategic account relationships, developing profitable sales programs, managing the sales associates, and determining promotional strategies for retailers and distributors. This position develops new customer relationships, negotiates annual programs, and maintains internal communications and follow-up. To be successful, the Sales Manager will need to drive expansion efforts in alignment with regional plans and resources, serve as a leader and mentor with strong analytical skills, and maintain a profitable sales department.
This position is a full time exempt hourly position with benefit eligibility and reports to the Chief Revenue Officer. Availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays is occasionally expected and ability to travel up to 50% is required. Living in Portland Oregon is preferred, but consideration for living in NYC is also a possibility.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assign territories and set sales team goals and targets
- Serve as primary point of contact for key accounts
- Contribute to monthly/quarterly/annual category analysis, including share development, retail space development, and brand/promotional activities
- Maintain regular sales contacts with each strategic customer and distribution business partner, including periodic market visits
- Consult with potential customers to understand their needs; identify and suggest equipment, products, or services that will meet those needs
- Execute sales of all products and new items, promotions and other sales initiatives to appropriate distribution business partner and/or strategic customers
- Drive meeting and event planning
- Resolve customer complaints, staffing problems, and other issues that may interfere with efficient sales operations
- Remain well informed and connected on products, applications, technical service, training and market conditions
- Plan and implement strategic objectives that fulfill the mission and the goals of the department efficiently and effectively in collaboration with leadership team
- Evaluate, improve, and report the efficiency of business processes and procedures to enhance profitability and qualitative results
- Establish, maintain, and present reports to stakeholders
- Engage in effective feedback systems to monitor and communicate operational and strategic alignment with interdepartmental objectives
- Manage departmental budget and profitability metrics
- Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit, select, and hire an appropriate team
- Enable employees to meet Snow Peak’s expectations for goal accomplishment by overseeing onboarding, training, and continuous improvement
- Monitor employee work schedules including assignments, training, paid time off, and overtime
- Develop employee career pathing by coaching, mentoring, and providing effective performance feedback; inspire a culture of learning and development
- Communicate transparently and resolve conflicts to foster a successful team that encourages the appreciation of diverse perspectives as well as cohesiveness
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor’s degree
- 7 years of experience in sales
- 3 years of experience in sales management
- Proficient knowledge of compliance related laws and regulations
- Advanced writing and documentation experience with demonstrated success in strategic messaging
- Advanced expertise in excel and analytical analysis and reporting
- Expert sales, customer service, and negotiation skills
- Expert understanding of the financial and business acumen to drive profitability
- Excellent presentation and public speaking
- Excellent leadership and management skills with ability to motivate
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Superior time management skills with a proven ability to efficiently manage multiple, concurrent, time-sensitive projects and priorities
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Superior problem-solving abilities to meet ambiguous and multicultural needs
- Extremely organized with meticulous attention to detail

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Communicate effectively with a diverse audience in person, by phone and by computer
